Thanks to the absolutely amazing skills of [livejournal.com profile] hakamadare, my granite table is now my parents' problem. We couldn't even find a free dolly when we first arrived at the storage place, so he lifted one end and three of us (my dad, my roommate and me) lifted the other end. Haka conducted, thought several steps ahead, had us all calm and collected. He slid with the table into the back of the station wagon, unfurled himself from the clutches of the trunk and tumbled out the back door unscathed. He made it look like we'd been practicing.

[livejournal.com profile] chaiya, your husband is amazing. Don't ever forget that, eh?

Now that the table is gone, there is only one thing left in my storage locker that I will have trouble lifting but I can do without wrangling major victims. This means I could clean out my locker by the end of the month and start saving money.

Other things happened after that, but I'll describe those later. I've been decompressing this evening and it's been a success. This week I'll need to change the oil in my car, work more on organizing, get the leaf into my normal dining room table and take a couple more trips to my storage locker. I may build a real server or two while I'm at it.

I should get back to creative writing -- you know, the essays. Anyone have topics they'd like to read? Please lemme know.

Here's a topic: Why does every 12-year old with a pirated copy of Flash think they can write tutorials? Some of us are actually trying to learn, and the amount of poorly-written tutorials (most not even specifying whether they're using AS2 or AS3) I have to wade through to figure out the smallest little thing is truly astounding.

Oh, and Adobe's idea of documentation sucks. They're charging enough for the freaking programs, they should suck it up and pay someone to write REAL help files. A list of hotkeys would be nice. As would an explanation of the difference between onPress and onRelease. Heck, any sort of explanation of ANY of the methods would be nice. I have two books and the entire internet at my fingers... You'd think I could find a half decent explanation of how mouse event handlers work. Or at least a signpost for how I'm supposed to assign a var name to a button, so I can go back to the one single good tutorial I found. (Which, of course, was written for a version of Flash two or three releases before the one I have.)

I'm tired and cranky that my button doesn't work. I'm going to bed. Maybe this whole "programming" thing will make more sense in the morning.

Topic: "Is there really any difficult thing to learn?"

Glad to hear you're well.

I know my husband is amazing. You don't know what he was leaving in order to go out and help you move the table. ;)
