I finally put myself to bed early enough that I could get something done on a Sunday morning. For example, I am typing from my good desktop computer (vladivostok) instead of my iBook (iBis). This means I am neither in bed nor on the sofa. I am waiting for a phone call from a visiting friend. I am playing with my new four-port KVM switch, which will allow me to get work done on several machines without shutting things down.
I am also setting up the baker's rack to allow me to run the towers and 2U servers on it without having to move them off the rack. One of my 2U servers (I forget its name but it's my VA Linux 2200 that handled the iOpeners during Arisia) is still in the closet. I think it doesn't want to admit it's curious about the other computers and whether they could deal with its dominant nature. The other 2U (my UltraSparc which hasn't been formatted so it has yet to be named) is on the lowest level of the baker's rack. Since I may still need to open it up and toggle some wire settings, I am leaving it unscrewed. Oh yeah, the tools of geekdom!
More later. I got my call. I'm heading to
metahacker's place and all the fun that goes with it. Also, my cuppa is kicking in.
The word "cuppa" reminds me that I still haven't told any stories from I-Con, which I ought. Oh, and I have a new idea for a hybrid form of story but that'll wait, too. Humans first!
