I have a dermatologist's appointment in about an hour. Thus, g'mornin'!

Saturday night Maggie mentioned she saw an ant in the bathroom. Sunday night I was sitting on the couch waiting for the laundry to need tending. I went scratch my back and found an ant under my finger. Monday night I bought a new scrubby mop, ant traps and spearmint tea bags.

Spearmint? Advice from a coworker. He says the mint throws off the ants' olfactory trail detection (pheromones or oozlings, what have you... is it still pheromones when it has nothing to do with sex?). I figure the spic&span will do a lot more to disrupt the scent expressways.

Last night I cleaned the kitchen. It was also garbage night. I decided I'd clean until 11 pm and the Daily Show would be my reward for cleaning well. This worked beautifully. We're now several bags of bags deficient.

Maggie gave me a huge hug this morning when she saw what I'd done. I warned her we'd be working on the dining table tonight (our largest mess in the house). This will take two people and more sorting skills but it will do.

I haven't quite figured out what these ants like to eat. They pick up random shit and carry it around. When [livejournal.com profile] epanastatis and I lived in Johnson City, we had these amazingly small brown ants that were only lipophillic. In other words, you could leave out maple syrup and nothing would happen, but a drizzle of olive oil lead to a pilgrimage expressway. Traps were too big for these ants (they weren't tall enough to think about climbing the base of the trap to get in) so we just cleaned.

Okay, i'd better get out of here. Point is: the pad will soon be less of a sty. Come visit when we're ready, eh?
