pseydtonne: Behold the Operator, speaking into a 1930s headset with its large mouthpiece. (shelley)
I just woke up from another five-hour nap. I'm starting to wonder where the jet lag ended and a bout of depression began or if it's all still the same. Either way it's too late to get a meal and I'm not that hungry anyway. Well... maybe I am.

(Warning: take a minute steak and cover it in five Chinese spice and a touch of rogan josht spice. Cook it briefly on a grill until medium rare. Then eat without pausing to recover from the hot. Enjoy the brief high. Then eat an apple and come down. Yeah, I liked it too.)

I noticed a couple days ago that I hadn't moved my watch's date ahead so I finally took care of that this morning. I guess I did it too early in the day because it seems to be twelve hours fast. I am uncertain how to fix that on a Swatch without changing the time, since otherwise it's spot on.

I attended ReaderCon as much as possible this weekend. It was educational and enjoyable. I'd tell you more but this crick in my neck (one I just put there during my nap) is annoying.

I found a 20 GB iPod in a trash pile in a friend's loft in Brooklyn. There's something I didn't expect to be thrown away so readily. I assumed it would have a dead battery and that I'd be taking it apart. Instead the battery seems fine so far and I've scored a bunch of music as well.

The previous owner may have been a dilettante. I have yet to find a play count higher than ten except for the Elliot Smith, so I hope the guy didn't commit suicide. Only 10% of available space was in use. I even have the previous owner's name because it came up as the name of the iPod when I plugged it in. He's got some Chet Baker (can't go wrong there), The Waitresses (as in that 1982 or so song "I Know What Boys Like"), and Love's "Forever Changes" (which may be corrupted). He even has a couple Pernice Brothers albums I don't have.

The drive itself may be corrupted because I can see the stacks on third-party iPod software but copying files always leads to read errors. I'm going to try a few other tactics with my iBook but this may be a research piece.

-back to bed soon anyway, Ps/d
