Last night I went out to dinner after theater practice. Oh yeah, I should plug this event before I whine about my guts:

Post Meridian Radio Players, also known as Hub of the Universe Productions, presents Tomes of Terror II on Monday 29 October through Hallowe'en at 7:30 p.m. at The First Congregational Church, 89 College Ave in Somerville -- just up the street from Davis Square.

I will be the narrator in the third play, "The Stone Ship". I have been working my ass off on getting a consistent yet understandable semi-pirate accent that can go from old man to young man fluidly. It's gotten good. It's deeply focused on a rhotic R, so it sounds more Irish but it's got the Midlands hard T. Maybe it's really West English -- say, Devonshire. It's hard to say because it'll crumble if I over-analyze it before the show.

So wait, i was going to whine about my tummy. I thought I'd overeaten. I was tired but still felt bloated when I fell asleep.

Then I woke up around 7 and my lower guts were giving me a much worse case of what for. It got painful enough that I was hallucinating a little. Then it ebbed enough that I cold sleep for another hour. Then I woke up again, hit the bathroom and the pain slowly subsided after that. Then my body was so exhausted from the pain that I slept several hours.

I'm used to thinking of this as food poisoning. Now I am thinking there is something my body doesn't like. It's weird that the pain will be coupled with a desire to put something else in my body. I can feel an exact position of intestinal pain when it happens. Anyone got an idea?

I thought I was going to die this morning from whatever it was that made you sick, too. Maybe it was the queso... or did you get anything with beef in it?

Dude, happy birthday to me. Have some food poisoning!

Yes on both counts. While I'm sorry to hear you got the same thing, I can take comfort in knowing someone else got the same thing from the same place. Dreamy? No. Useful data? Yes.

Have a better unbirthday and thanks for commenting!

What did you eat? And did you eat anything that consistantly makes you sick? You could have some sort of sensitivity to food... like an allergy, but not that bad. I had those same sort of symptoms anytime I ate shellfish for years... but I stopped eating it altogether for a few years, and now my body can tolerate it again.

Where might this exact position of intestinal pain be? Granted, I tend to think this way due to my own experience, but the first thing to pop into my head is diverticular disease, which they really don't look for in people under 50, and ESPECIALLY people under 40. (Heredity, it's a good thing...NOT.) Anyway, try drinking more water--I know it sounds silly, but it can't hurt, and it does tend to help lots of things, including diverticular disease...

Yeek, not that I hope.

Good news: I found the chip and it should be on its way! The guy only ships by mail so it's a little slow but it's coming from suburban DC so it shouldn't be that bad. I've got all the other parts, so it should fall into place soon after that. I'm also setting up another machine as a backup.

I hope not, too, for your sake--there are very few people I'd wish this on.

Yay on the computer front! I even have a new (well, for me...) computer desk to put it all on, so let me know when you'll be ready, and I'll try to get things set up & waiting. (BTW, would you like the old G4's monitor? I don't have any use for it now, and I already have a dead iMac on my floor clogging up the place...)

BTW, do you know if you'll be going to Salem on Saturday for the show, etc.? Let me know ASAP if you can--they're recommending that people get there early (as in 4-5 p.m. early), as they're expecting a sellout quite early on. (Yes, Dodge St. serves food, and if you ask nicely, they might make you a Rob Pocket... :-) After all, Operation Pearl is moving right along, and you'll definitely want to see that one in action! *evil grin*

I don't think I'm going to the Salem show. I will be going to a cast party that evening and I want to work on my costume.

As for the old machinery, I can't fit another monitor at my place. One of my motivations right now has been "if I let Robin use my old 17" CRT, then I don't have to throw out a really good monitor that I cannot use". LCD monitors have become cheaper, use less juice and take up a significantly smaller footprint on a table.

Frankly, get the dead iMac off to the DPW as soon as possible and sell that other monitor on Craig's List. The dead box SMOKED, for crying out loud -- it's a fire hazard!

Well, it hadn't actually started smoking, just crackling, but... Is there any way to take the hard drive out of it first? Even if we can't get any of my stuff off it, I don't like the idea of sending something w/8 years worth of activity into strangers' hands, and I'm not confident that the machine will blow up fast enough should someone turn it on to try to get any info off it.

1) Because I know folk from Theater@first often go there and
2) Because I know someone with a sensitive stomach who can not tolerate some of the meat they have there

Oy, two people mentioning it makes me think I have a grand future ahead. I am glad that I got one confirmation here on LJ and another when I was at practice on Thursday that something was funky from the food at Rudy's and not simply a problem in my guts.
