Oh emm gee all I can think about is my trip. I'm nearly useless from the desire to get going. I've packed half my stuff already -- I don't need a sweater in Boston this week but I will in Melbourne. I even got my only piece of fabulous clothing, my red silk brocade lounge jacket, pressed and folded for the journey. All I need now is a three-prong adapter for Australia (which I am coming to believe I'll have to buy there instead of here) and a new toothbrush.

Uhh... I was going to say something interesting. I swear I was. Instead all I can think is "I'm leaving in less than 96 hours. In fact, I leave the house at 7:30 so it's really 93 hours...". Then I have to stop my brain from this pointless rattling or I lose consciousness.

Oh, I forgot to eat breakfast! Gotta go.

here's hoping that all the flooding and stuff in newcastle is done with by the time you get there.

an lj buddy of mine who lives there said there were reports of shark sightings on main street. ya know, because the sea is now on the land. oh apocalypse!

Did you want to try to get the new Roadsteamer on your iPod before you left, or is there simply not enough time now? I don't have any plans tonight so far, so let me know and I'll help you out.

Hello!

Yes, that's a big part of the plan. I figure I gotta bring the laptop anyway so I may as well give updates.

I set up a Flickr account in preparation for this journey. You can see the five photos I've got there so far (http://flickr.com/photos/8614265@N08/).

If it's the same sort of large three-prong adapter as they use in the UK, I have one you could borrow if you'd like.

Sadly it isn't. Their two-prong plugs are the same as Israel's (flat prongs like our at 45-degree angles to each other). However those two prongs are upside-down once you move to the three-prong grounded plug. Thus it looks like a sad fave instead of a happy face:

I need a grounded three-prong for my Toshiba laptop. Its charger is a built-in power converter for the 220v 50Hz power, so all I needed is the grounded slot.

Thank you for offering, however.
