Sunburn versus important products
Aug. 7th, 2006 09:30 pmI went to the family reunion and it was a great time. I chilled well, ate well, and finally figured out why people get summer cottages that are larger than my old apartment. In fact, I'm thinking about getting one myself -- cheaper than a house but I can still accrue equity. Quiet, too...
That's not where I got sunburn.
fuzzplugjones and I headed up to the SUNY-B campus and filmed me talking for two hours. There was not a cloud in the sky, the sky was warm but not at all humid and the trees broke the wind enough for us to record. Then I drove home and realized I was red as a lobster. I look like an outback Australian politico. It's been over 24 hours and my skin is still significantly warm. I'm going to bed very early.
Meanwhile, there is balm in Gilead but it's not just aloe vera. I was in the drug store getting condoms last night when I found the old school box with new expiration dates. That's right, all you into the fornication without procreation...
...the Today Sponge is back in American stores. I suppose it'd be TMI to go into details but its return led to much cheering last night.
Okay, that's the news. My white blood cells need to heal me so I bid you all pleasant dreams and bid
lightfixer a happy burfy.

Date: 2006-08-08 02:21 am (UTC)I'm going to try making a lavendar salve for my sunburn, actually - you might want to try that in addition to aloe vera. Lavender oil helps speed skin regeneration.

Date: 2006-08-08 02:31 am (UTC)...but it always has, or at least it did back in the '80s. (OK, not so much a handle as a strip of elastic, but you get the idea.) Just don't use the little bastard all by itself w/out other barrier method backup, 'kay?
As for your burn, I always go for the cider vinegar cure--dump a quart or so into a tub of cool water and soak for 20 minutes or so. Yes, it does need to be cider vinegar, and yes, you may smell like a pickle when you're done, but it really does help soothe a bad burn. Aloe and lavendar oil also help, as does Noxema; keeping all of the above in the fridge makes for an especially soothing application.
Just helping others learn from my past mistakes, you know...
