Everybody's Jewish on Purim!
Mar. 24th, 2005 10:14 pmFirst, I'd like to thank everyone that came for my birthday party on Saturday. I was pleased to have pulled it off. It's good to have my friends around me.
I'm back from Armonk, in Westchester County NY. I was at an IBM training session. I work at Rational, which IBM bought a couple years ago. This means I have ample opportunities for growth within the company, but it also means I'd never meet another IBMer in a decade if it hadn't been for this event. I learned a lot more than I expected, I met cool people from the East and Midwest, and I found out there are still places in the expensive parts of the Eastern seaboard that don't have cel coverage. Bah.
I am saddened to report that my watch is mostly dead or at least dead enough that I'll never wear it again. On Tuesday I'd noticed that the watch seemed fogged up inside. Yesterday it was so full of water that I wondered what was up. That's when one of the three carved notches that hold the battery cover in place had broken off. Then a second one broke. Each event allowed more and more water passed the rubber seal. I could duct-tape the cover into place after I dry out the watch, but it wouldn't be practical to wear it.
This was is of note because I found it eight and a half years ago in a desk drawer at my first job out of college. This Swatch suited me beautifully. Now that I'll have to buy one, I want the AutoQuarz kind (self-winding) but I definitely want one.
Time for me to sleep. Happy Purim!
-yet they had latkes instead of Hamen*spit*tashen at the breakfast buffet, Dante
