The damn clock stops me cold
May. 18th, 2004 10:48 amWarning: all of this will be geek. Sorry. In fact, I'll hide it all behind a cut tag and promise there won't be any important announcements hiding behind the cut this time. hee hee...
I've tried to install Gentoo on two computers. One was a Shuttle P4 1.8GHz which was dual-bot XP Home; the other my dual-Celeron 500 MHz with 512 MB RAM. Notice that I say "tried": every time I start, I get hung up on the part about setting the clock at the beginning of chapter 5. I've set up enough partition tables that putzing with cfdisk and fdisk no longer phases me in the least. It's that clock... you gotta check it on out...
Many of you geekier folk already know that Linux doesn't trust the BIOS clock.
I'll have to finish this later.

Date: 2004-05-20 04:20 pm (UTC)Man, to think that perhaps nothing more would have been said here if I hadn't read the original post when I did.
I want to know, though: how does one look up archived posts? It must be reasonably easy...
