I had planned to be telling you all about the results of my celeron experiments. Instead, I ran errands and read a lot of the weekend.

I went to Microcenter yesterday to stare at CPU coolers and power supplies. Some guy was driving me nuts with his questions, which led to other people asking me questions and having to explain I wasn't an employee. Then [livejournal.com profile] tkitch rescued me from the nutter. He also gave me a power supply he had in his trunk so I bought him dinner.

Fascinating guy. He was telling me about various computer parts he'd tested when his job was reviewing parts for a web site. He used the same computer for most of this, one whose CPU got ruined not by excessive heat but by a slam when he drove over a pot hole on the way home from a LAN party.

I decided to try the new Reveal light bulb. It looks purple when unlighted and gives off a more natural tone of light when on. The difference in the office is staggering -- the walls are white, not yellowish. The smoke detector is yellow and grungy. The room feels less paranoid. I also have no need to run a separate LED light from the USB port for the desk to be visible.

Today I spent a lot of time on AIM. It feels good to communicate in the quiet way that online text messaging allows. I can linger on the thought of [livejournal.com profile] metahacker wanting gumbo or [livejournal.com profile] moominmollyfighting insomnia in a hotel in London. It's nice to connect.

Uhhh... oh snap. I'm supposed to be doing laundry. Maggie's home.

-nice of y'all to come down, Dante

Surprisingly, we had everything I needed for the chicken and sausage gumbo, except some celery or something and the *chicken*, so we had "... and sausage gumbo" instead. Came out pretty good.

I always like getting to chat with you on AIM. You're so contemplative. :)

PS: I think they like me.
