Boston.com reported that Coakley conceded to Brown at 9:13 p.m. -- three minutes ago.

I didn't see this coming. I really didn't.

We're fucked. Discuss.

Well, I thought we'd have been fucked either way. I sincerely doubt a health care bill would have passed regardless of which party was in power.

I must admit, I'm surprised you didn't see it coming.

Unless Obama get shot between now and September, a lot more seats are going to go Republican.

Shhhh! Don't turn him into President Allstate!

I didn't until Sunday. I honestly didn't think he was important. It turns out he's male and even Massholes aren't ready for a default woman.

Or it could be that Coakley went to the Caymans on vacation instead of campaigning. (No, that's not a metaphor. She LITERALLY went to the Caymans on vacation instead of campaigning.) It has nothing to do with her being a woman and EVERYTHING to do with the fact that Brown was shaking hands until he got blisters while Coakley was sitting in her living room awaiting her coronation. (Same thing as happened with Obama and Clinton in Iowa.)

I think the Globe (http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2010/01/15/race_is_in_a_spinout/) summed it up way better than I ever could.

Actually, Jon Stewart (http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/mon-january-18-2010/mass-backwards) sums it up even better.

Yeah, I was going to link to that Stewart thing, too.

I can't think of anything to say other than - we're screwed.

Well, the cynic in me says this is what the Democratic leadership wanted. This way they can pass nothing, cave to the Republicans more, and cite "political reality" as the reason.
