Much better round of organizing today
Jan. 6th, 2010 12:52 amI didn't touch any CDs. However the laundry is hung in the closet, the ledge along one side of the dresser is clear and there isn't anything in the way of the front floor of the dresser. I even emptied one of those blue Ikea bags, which had ten books and a load of junk newspapers from Montreal. The bed is mostly cleared off and will be more so in a couple minutes. I have a bedroom floor again, as well as a computer tower repair surface with its giant lazy Susan.
I even sorted some of my random bags of computer screws. Computer cases have about four kinds of screws, of which two are interchangeable (one set has finger-turnable heads while the others require a screwdriver). I hate finding out I need the tiny-threaded ones to install one optical drive and the bigger threaded ones for a nearly identical optical drive. Since they multiply like rabbits, I keep them in fishing tackle boxes sorted by attributes and likelihood to draw sunfish. Sometimes I wind up with frightening amounts of unsorted screws, which might as well be Kryptonite when I need a tiny-threaded screw immediately. Thus sorting is boring but useful.
I feel good about today's progress. I have the mental space to think about whether I would've been a far more boring person had I actually grown up in Canada. I love the place and am obsessed with its musicians. However, those musicians are popular there. Wouldn't I have been just another hoser at a Blue Rodeo concert?
On my MP3 player, Blue Rodeo sits right next to Boards of Canada (two brothers from England). These bands would have nothing in common if it weren't for the Latin alphabet. It doesn't make either one any less enjoyable. One moves me emotionally, the other makes me wonder what it means every time.
