Today is an important day. Once upon a time this day only had meaning for males. However, this is a better world than that one and women too can take part in this important tradition.

Yes, today is the opening of NCAA Basketball. It's time again to watch the only sport that expects squeaky shoes as it grants us its future. Florida State is favored: they still have their top players after their 2006 Tournament win.

So, don't forget about those young men and women tossing spheroids against wooden floors. They are the future of bookies and advertisers alike.

I walked back to my desk after a couple meetings. Before I could sit down, my coworker Stabby (not his real name) said "today is my one-year anniversary of working here."

I couldn't contain myself. I began to sing the final chorus of Happy Happy Joy Joy while my right foot bounced up and down to the rhythm and my arms stuck out and swung in time with each other but not the song. Without another word, I went back to my desk.

He watched this. Then he was quiet for a few seconds. Then he said "now I'm sad" and left the cubicle.
