I've never had a cel phone long enough that the battery started to die. I'm fairly hard core about the rechargeable batteries in my life: charge completely, drain completely, do this as often as practical. In theory, this will keep the battery in good shape as long as possible. That said, batteries still die.
I used to be able to go five days give or take between recharging the phone. Suddenly it's dropped to about one or two days. The worst so far was getting 26 hours from full charge to near-shutdown, covering 11 pm Friday to 1 am Sunday. I think I spent twenty, maybe thirty minutes on actual phone calls.
My cellular company doesn't offer my model of phone to customers anymore. In fact, it seems to be rare unto invisible in America but fairly common in Europe. T-Mobile used to offer the accessories for the phone on their web site but that link no longer works for this phone.
I went to the phone manufacturer's web site to find the model number of the battery. I clicked on the "Buy this Now!" button and got told I could purchase from the web site only if I lived in deutschland or nederland. Nein and nij, I fear.
They also had links to preferred resellers. However, the countries available came down to various EU countries, Switzerland, India and Brazil. Thus I wound up at eBay.
I had never bought anything new on eBay before. It's like finding an indoor mall hidden beneath the local strip mall.
$12 ($8 for the battery, $4 to ship it) is still a lot cheaper than a new phone I won't necessarily like. Then again, where can a person buy a cel phone in a brick & mortar store in Boston that is not tied to the cel provider? Hmmm... research time...
Oh, ad weekend shift was very dull. Hallelujah. Rachel me my parents and no one came away pissed off. This is also good.
