Evening 1 of the Office Re-org completed
Apr. 6th, 2005 12:01 amI did nothing last night to clean the apartment. I sprawled onto my clean couch, started reading Slashdot and then passed out with the laptop on my belly.
Tonight the couch is a complete mess. Actually, there's room to sit if I toss the pillows off the one cushion. I'm sitting in the lounge chair instead. I need to sort everything into categories and empty three decent-sized cardboard boxes before I can move anything back into the office. I may also need to empty the office closet first and figure out the fate of those items.
In contrast, I just vacuumed the floor of the office for the first time since August. I closed the office's closet door for the first time in more months. I can even close the office door. The office floor is a wide space. I still can't move any furniture around the office because there is too much on top of the desk I want to move. Once I'm done, it'll be impressive.
It's hard to describe the previous version of the mess. In fact, it's better if you just see the photographs I've taken of the present state of the mess. These photos need to be scaled first but I'll post them on my web site some time before Friday. I've even taken a picture of the famed silverboard so that you can get an idea of the project map.
This temporary mess is worth it. It'll suck having to sort the stuff tomorrow. However, there is a plan to it so I have a way to know when I'm done. I can see progress happening. I can even see myself getting the rebuild of
graciana's dad's old computer into a box again. (Hey,
graciana: would it be okay if I put some slightly newer parts together and said it was the old box? I don't think he'd be able to use the result otherwise.)
I just wanted to report from the effort and say hello before I went to bed. Bed has been earned this evening.
-that looks a lot like me snoring in the near future, Dante
