I apologize to the people chatting with
chaggalagirl on AIM when her computer shut down unexpectedly.
I came home from work and plugged my cell phone into its charger. Since the AC adapter of the charger was plugged into the same power strip as her computer, her power supply didn't take to kindly to the sudden redistribution of electron wealth.
We could smell the fried capacitors in her computer's power supply. I wound up taking apart the power supply -- odd to find one that did not have the "no user serviceable parts inside" warning. I found a single part I could service: a seven-amp, 250-volt fuse. I'll grab a fuse, but I also plan to grab her a new power supply as well. I don't like the oozy stuff near the big capacitors.
So I have yet another dissected computer on the kitchen table. I learn more every day! If only I knew when to stop.
