It's purplish blue.
Dec. 16th, 2002 12:55 amMaggie and I had a rather eventful week. The upshot is that there is nothing new to report, and for this we are both quite grateful. The stress of getting to this point led us to buy ourselves an early holiday present -- a Nintendo Gamecube.
We plugged it in around 6:30 pm and we turned it off around 12:30 am. It came with Mario Sunshine, which kept making us want to go to the beach again. (Note that we do not mean the Atlantic found around here, which is always cold. We're talking the Gulf. Too bad getting to the nice parts of the Gulf means going to Florida.) The game is a fun, although it takes a while to figure out how to stare at the action -- the camera angle is a major part of the game and sometimes you find yourself wishing you could type "aim at 11 o'clock with the hose, okay?". Still, it was a free game.
We also got this pack of old video games, like Pac Man and Pole Position. I loved those games as a kid. They are almost unbearable now. Pole Position rocked, but I think its big draw for me was the chance to drive anything with a steering wheel at age eight. Maybe I'll buy the steering wheel controller if we get any more driving games (which we likely will).
It's nice to snuggle and alternate figuring out some facet of Mario. "I think you have to push up and B, but I can't figure out the timing." "You can jump up and down on the water spider? Cool!" I like that the buttons have distinct shapes and are not symmetrical; this way, I know I'm hitting the jump button instead of the change gun type button without looking. The Nintendo people think hard about this stuff, and for this I am willing to hand them money.
-oh and the bed frame arrives in January sometime, Dante
