Rewards for everything I've schlepped

I was helping
adaptively scavenge from Kibo's leftovers at the old place. The man left behind as much stuff as someone moving into a place would drop off. I wound up straining a back muscle on my lower right side just as I had finished lifting her last box.
This is one of those weird pains where I don't feel it 98% of the time: I sleep fine, I work without complaint, I prance around like a doof and no one is the wiser. I can even move furniture and boxes around without a problem. Then when I feel it, it's sudden and -- here's the kicker -- unrepeatable. I think "oh, if I move that way again I can reproduce the pain. Nope. Hmmm... nope. Okay." So far the only way to reproduce it with any consistency is to step heel first onto my right foot without shoes on. When I do feel it, it's like someone punched me in the right kidney.
Dag nab you, aging process! Now I need to recover because I don't think anything else will help. I barely noticed it yesterday until I was ready for bed. Now I'm feeling it, likely because I'm still tired this morning so I can't tune it out.
Kibo made banana and black pepper ice cream last night. That's one flavor, folks. It's delicious and so bad for a person. You take a bite and say "yay, tastes of objects!" He also made a curried chicken which didn't quite please him but sure pleased me.
The house is starting to come to order. I was trying to set up one of the baker's racks (actually, it's
chaggalagirl's old aquarium rack) when I realized I only had the stoppers for one level. Since this rack was in storage, I'll have to drive up to Methuen this week so that I can finish building this set of horizontal surfaces I desperately need. At least I could stash stuff below and one level on, thereby clearing enough boxes off my bed that I could go to sleep.

Date: 2007-01-30 05:33 pm (UTC)I took care of them for a year. I liked them but they knew I was only a caretaker. I replaced a pump, cleaned, all that. I even went up to New Hampshire and found a piece to replace a spinner that had ground down. I never really felt like I understood the fish: I just listened to the bubbling and I stared. They looked so bored with me.
Then I was moving to my cousin's. I knew I'd have no place to put them in her house. So I gave away the aquarium and gave the fish to
