pseydtonne: Behold the Operator, speaking into a 1930s headset with its large mouthpiece. (Default)

Yesterday I did not get my brains together particularly early but I did it early enough to get to the apartment in Melrose, grab the old Comcast equipment (ditigal cable box, cable modem and remote phone unit) and take the nine-minute drive to my old place of employment in Malden. I grabbed the boxes and a book in case I had to stand in line for a while (which I didn't).

I lied that I was moving to Worcester for a while. As I was talking to one lady, another said howdy. It was one of my old team mates. She was telling me that they cut all the commissions or maybe the base but either way they dropped the floor on the sales structure because the old department from AT&T Broadband is not what Comcast wants. I got out just in time.

It also turned out the phone box I had was not the one listed on the CE (Customer Equipment) screen in the old phone database. My former team mate had the lady make a handwritten receipt for proof of return and they'd figure out the loops for me. Thank goodness my old friend was there or I could've been there a while.

Now I had my three receipts: one proving I'd paid the last bill, one proving return of the DTV box and leased modem, and the less formal one proving I had dropped off a phone box. I still have to call Comcast to cancel the phone because it's weird that way. I know exactly why but it's as boring as it could be so I'll spare you.

A couple hours later I picked up [livejournal.com profile] quem98 and she helped me shuffle crap out of the Melrose... uhh, place. (How could I have lived there 2.25 years and not made that pun until now?) In turn I got her dinner and she invited me to a shindig. It was exactly what I needed.

I am hoping that, once the moving is finished, my self-doubt dialogue will ebb. I got all the towers out of the place and cleared off a lot of the big baker's rack so that I can move it here. By the end of today I should be able to bring that rack, all of its contents, the rugs from the living room and computer room and sundry other parts back here to Lexington.

Getting everything back on the rack will be vital to clutter avoidance. Then I can spend time after work the next couple days sorting what remains and getting what will move into storage into a single clump. Then I'll clean the bathroom, vacuum and swiff, and hit the lights. I am oversimplifying if only to encourage myself. I've been bummed trying to get this finished.
