pseydtonne: Behold the Operator, speaking into a 1930s headset with its large mouthpiece. (bright-blessings)

I was in upstate New York from Tuesday until Saturday, bothering folks. I can now extract the malware from a typical Windows machine in under two hours. This meant I was able to clean up my mom's machine while semi-conscious.

I finally got the chance to hang out with briAn for the first time since 1998. He owns a house in Utica. This house is part of a strip of once-expensive houses from more than a century ago. This being Utica, the house cost fifty grand. They have signs along Rutger Street saying "Own a mansion? Why not?" They open the bidding at $70,000 and two-thirds of what the winning bidder pays ends up in a trust the new owner will use to renovate the place. I'll admit I'd be willing to invest in a teleportation device so that I could buy one of these mini-mansions and still work in Boston or anywhere else on Earth.

bri gave me this impressive pile of CDs from various English folk artists -- Pentangle, Eliza Carthy, Press Gang, Rory McLeod, on and on. I can't wait to get into 'em.

My mom took me to this Chinese restaurant outside Syracuse called China Road. The owner used to run high-class Chinese joints in Manhattan, then got tired of the grief and bought a place in Mattydale. Tour buses come up from NYC to eat there. I can see why: fabulous food. Even the simple scallion pie was flaky yet tender, a joy for all ages. Too bad the banquet room only seats 60 or I'd seriously consider the place...

Maggie got a new kitty. This is a male of three months of age, which she has taken to naming Flynn. Flynn bites my ankles a lot and has the power of flight. Flynn is starting to understand the value of not biting me. It's been a bit stressful, though.

I hit these weird stretch goals from last month and thus qualified for some extra ducats. This is just in time for both our cel phones to exhibit Shrinking Dying Battery Syndrome, a trait common to the freebie phones you get when you sign up for cel service once siad phones are outside the contract period.

Oh, and I should write to Gabe. After I sleep, though. I've been very tired the past couple nights, possibly from fighting latent cold symptoms. I shan't deny my body its beauty... err, goofy sleep.

Remind me to tell you about the convenience store that changed shape in only six hours, eh? Meanwhile, I finally have a real slide rule to play with. My dad's old Keuffel & Esser warped inside its protector, so I brought home the next best one. Could someone remind me how log pi = 0.5 exactly? Is the log the circle? Will the circle be unbroken?

-snoring in my head, Dante
