I was supposed to go to my parents' place for a few days. I wanted to clean up my old room, sort some shit I've avoided for four years and maybe the four years before that. I'd taken three days off.
I called my mom, known in the hip circles as Jeezie (or G.Z., as she'll sign on notes), to sort out when I should arrive.
"Well, you can kill the day at gramma's I guess. We're getting the door replaced on Wednesday," she groaned. "Then again, we can have the guy leave it unlocked. After all," she concluded, "we haven't been able to close the door for several days, let alone lock it."
The new door has been a big deal for Jeezie. She'd been wanting to get it installed for months because the old one had fallen apart. The old neighborhood, being such a well-lighted dive, is not a great place for a sciungazz front door.
"You know, we have no idea where you'll park. There's six feet of snow everywhere." As she's saying this, the ice is strangely sublimating in my driveway. "Let's face it, this is the wrong time to clean up anything."
"So you're saying I should wait until April?" I asked.
Then I left myself wondering what to do for the next few days. I guess I'll be here, cleaning the apartment and getting a dual-celeron box working. I'm going to fix
brynndragon's old hard drives onto her newer CPU & mobo.
Let's face it: I have some spare time. Who wants to hang out. I shouldn't get picky, but I'd love it if
hakamadare or
bluepapercup would come down to the Melrose lair and...
It dawns on me that it's not smart to invite guests without having a decent bottle of sherry on hand. All I've got is this port I found.
-twitching my tail, Ps/d
