I pulled out of onto my first expressway of the road trip at 9:40 this morning. I crossed into Virginia a little after 7 this evening (ninety minutes ago). I am about to fall asleep at

tckma's swank pad. He lives in a suburb that looks like a mega-Dewitt. It's planned, very planned -- by sadists.

I have been awake 23 hours. I did not get a nap at work today. I cannot believe I am alive and only had one cup of caffeine (my first in a couple months). I even got to eat at White Castle in Union, New Jersey.

Man, there was a lot of sun in the sky today. I am grateful for polarized sunglasses and sunscreen.

I am going to sleep and I will wake up human hours for the first time in several months. I hope to visit Manassas National Park tomorrow morning after breakfast and then head down to the Hampton Roads area until Saturday.

Northern Virginia isn't really the South. It's Tijuana without radar detectors. Actually, it's a lot like suburbs of many other cities, except that it's even more organized.

I stopped making sense a couple paragraphs ago. I go sleepies.
