The only room in my apartment that is staying warm is my bathroom. This isn't just because it's the smallest room in the joint; it's also the only one without an outside wall. My office, being on the corner of two outside walls, is ridiculously cold.

The heat dissolves straight through the walls in this place. Lack of insulation really swallows the heat like a mobster looking for u pizzu ("the beak", dipping his beak in your water). I am grateful that I don't pay for the heat myself. When we did that in Somerville (where we had marble floors), it cost a lot. Doesn't marble look great? Yeah. In the winter, it's like having a pool of water on the floor because it's stone and it'll suck all the ambient heat away with nary a burp.

Last night I was trying to set up my office again. It's a major mess. Still is. I had put on jeans, my new wool sweater, and even a space heater. My legs were still wicked cold. Combine this with the cable modem dropping out every couple minutes and I was annoyed. The only thing I got doe was setting up my keyboard, trackball and KVM switch again.

After today, I only have two more days at the old job. I would love to blow off today. I am tempted, but not as tempted as I had been. I keep playing "Miles Away" by A on my iPod and dancing to it. People think I'm a loon when they see me dance. I love seeing their reactions.

Tonight I'd like to build a spare Linux box. It'll be swell. If I can keep from freezing my babalones off, I'll be pleased.

Hey wait... is [livejournal.com profile] rscott going to be crashing here? Lemme know.

I made the mistake of clicking a link to Classmates.com last night. All those names from high school but you have to pay money to get their email addresses. I was having small fits of remembrance. "Eric Bulson! Our class's own Dennis Leary. I wonder which corporation sucked him up." Then I realize what I do and... well...

I won "most likely to succeed" in my high school's yearbook. When i got out of college and moved back home, that thought depressed me. So i strove to match it. I think I have.
