Routed and pleased
May. 16th, 2003 02:54 amI ran a bunch of errands Thursday, including getting a haircut and purchasing a router. So far, I'm pleased as punch! Then again, is punch ever really happy, being red and kinda sloshed... yeah, I guess it is...
Now that my computers are behind a router, my Linux boxes can have their own host names again. Yay! Too bad I'm running Red Hat 7.3, which not only let the cable modem hijack these names when I put the hub on but it won't tell me how to get them back. Anyone have any ideas? I hate seeing "Welcome to localhost.localdomain" when I log in at the GUI prompt on
chaggalagirl's machine. I gave these boxes some lovely names.
I'm off to bed. I've had an easy go of the first level of installation. Maggie and I also watched "Dark Roots: the Anna Nicole Story" on VoD. I should note that VoD will only work when I don't put
fangirl715's TV into the cable line. Why does this apartment only have one working cable jack, and why is it in the kitchen, nowhere near the cable's entry to the apartment? I work for the cable company and I don't know why.
My cousin showed me her new laptop today. It's a Centrino. It gets ten hours on a battery charge. I showed her my PDA, which is the same brand as her color one. I blew her mind when I showed her the books I'd loaded onto mine. She's filled hers with color photos.
I think I'm rambling.
-should be asleep, Dante
