Let's see... Woburn, Somerville, Melrose, Lexington, Somerville, Brookline. Yep, this is my sixth move since I came to Boston (if I count the move into Boston).

I am getting closer to done with packing. I nearly finished boxing up everything in the dining room and dismantling the baker's rack in there. This means I only have three baker's racks to go (one giant one, two small ones). Jeeze, so much of my stuff ends up sitting on metal grill shelving...

My bedroom is likely to be the last batch of pain. I moved out the dresser already but the bed, the desk, the bookshelf and the giant rack of computers still need to be unfurled.

It's good to feel like the move is coming to an end, even though a large amount of work remains. Things at eye-level are mostly in boxes.

I have nothing intelligent to report about this. I must therefore be hungry. Once I eat, I'll be spending the evening packing and wont' have anything to tell you. I hope y'all had a fine time dodging zombie Jesus yesterday.

We've been talking about getting baker's racks to fill the basement and get things off the floor and organized and stuff. I guess Steve really likes the aesthetic. ;)

I recommend them highly, as I'm certain [livejournal.com profile] lightfixer does (we got our big kits on the same trip to Costco). Important caveats:

  1. If you can help it, don't buy individual parts at the Container Store. Their parts are slightly non-standard sizes to keep you buying from them alone, and they charge four to five times the street price for a good kit. My biggest rack cost $81 a few years ago, but the equivalent in pieces from CS would have been over $300.
  2. If you're putting servers on baker's racks (and let's face it, servers love being on highly-ventilated yet sturdy baker's racks), put the casters on the bottom. You'll think "it's six feet high -- when am I going to need to move it around?" Then you snag an electric plug.
  3. I really like the baker's rack aesthetic, too. They feel like business and class at the same time.
But yeah, totally!

Let me know if you'll need a hand? I live near where you're headed, so maybe on the unpacking end of things?
