Psychodramatis personnae
Mar. 20th, 2008 01:54 pmMan, I thought y'all were up to "the sky is falling" stuff yesterday. Today I woke up to the latest backlash proposals against SUP. It's mutated from a content boycott to a rolling blackout of a strike, complete with demands and... ummm... Sara, you'll have to explain this one to me. Where's the "or else"?
A friend of mine plans to drive the LJ servers nuts with heavy single-sentence posting on one community, aka Stategate. I love the graphic, but I fear I read it as "Stalegate", which makes more sense to me: so much data that the page content goes static.
There is also misinterpretation going on, such as a fear that existing basic accounts will soon go away or be turned into adware accounts.
Did I also mention that some of the people organizing the mass actions are anti-Semitic, thus some of the Jewish community will not be boycotting?
By the way, I love my friends and I'm not making fun of you. I'm just fascinated. I'm reminded of the episode of SNL when Andrew Dice Clay hosted and both musical guest Sinead O'Connor (who is now, by the way, a nun) and Nora Dunn walked off the show for the week. Then other members of the show did vignettes about how they were only doing one sketch that week in protest or doing two sketches but phoning it in, et cetera.
You also have to understand that one of my friends in the real world is having a massive falldown. It wouldn't be polite to describe more than that and i care about him coming out of the situation sane and composed. My worry is that he may no longer see me as a friend because of how I'm trying to help him. That saddens me.
It's spring and I think we've all got cabin fever. It's time to go for a long shower and a brisk walk around the neighborhood. Let's get out of our chairs and get that blood moving, comrades!
