I wear an analog watch with a day and date on it. It has a disc with the digits 1 through 31 on it. This means I have to move the date number up five times a year, on the first day of the month after a month that does not have 31 days. I always forget until a day or two into that new month, so I wanted to come up with a mnemonic device.

The first of the months of March, May, July, October and December are the ones that require this task -- MMJOD.

Mister Michael Jackson Over Dosed.

If there weren't three months that start with a J, I'd be all set.

P.S.: The desktop session was a huge success. WebEx works across international borders. The customer is wicked happy and I actually had fun. I like my job.

I use the knuckle trick: curl your hand into a fist. Start with January at one of the end knuckles (doesn't matter which) and go from knuckle to space between. When you get to the last knuckle, restart at the first knuckle. The months on the knuckles have 31 days, the months between the knuckles don't.

Not that that immediately tells you which months you'd need to reset your watch on, unlike your clever pop mnemonic ;).
