Feb. 10th, 2007 03:57 pmI'm realizing that I have about five LJ posts I could do today if I include this meta-post. I have about 1000 words waiting on one of my servers. I started writing that yesterday and got so into it that I wanted to add it to version control. I need to solve some import problems for a customer, so why not use my own writing as a lorem ipsem file?
My geek worlds are meshing nicely. The end of my writer's block is coinciding with the return of my writing equipment from storage. Each of these events stirs the other: I find my good Linux laptop (yes, I have a few) and I can surf the web wirelessly in the living room while working on code in a code-friendly environment. Then I realize it's a pain to hunch over the laptop, so I grab a USB keyboard and trackball. Now the keyboard is in my lap but the laptop is on my tall milk crate. This also prevents me from scorching my lap and gives me a full keyboard with springy keys. I can just type on and on.
So yeah, you're going to see some prolifics today. I think the increasing daylight doses are helping me. I also think it'd be better if I break up the content so that there is a chance for you to find a place to comment.
I'm also thinking about splitting the journal or upgrading so that I can use group features. If I explain what I want to do, I would appreciate any advice you have.
I want to be able to write three or four different kinds of entries: computer stories, personal stories and meta-material, tales of home ownership, and arts and performance material (music, radio, crap I saw). People could default to getting everything or opt down to what they want. I may use the tag features later but I'd like to be able to filter from something as simple as a drop-down.
-thanks in advance for your input, Dante
